Birth story: unplanned c-section. Help me understand what happened. (TW: birth trauma)

@boby777 I am so sorry you feel traumatized by your birth experience. You did absolutely everything right. All decisions in birth lead down a different path. The trouble is we don’t know where each path leads, but we also can’t back track once we set off. The 2 things that stick out to me are...

Very low supply — what is reasonable hope for improvement?

@confusedone070289 The Spectra measurement guide says it should be 3-5mm larger than your actual measurement, which is generally incorrect and they end up being way too large that way. I’d honestly seek out a second opinion on that. I’d recommend a consult with Be My Breast Friend or someone...

Very low supply — what is reasonable hope for improvement?

@confusedone070289 You need to see an IBCLC that is very skilled in pumping. I’d bet your flanges are a wildly incorrect size. I think you can very easily increase your output with the proper support! I’d also recommend having baby evaluated by a pediatric physio or similar. Often tension...

5 year old step son keeps kicking 32w wife in stomach

@justalittleone Yep. Discipline is absolutely not the answer here.

5 year old step son keeps kicking 32w wife in stomach

@userischris It sounds like he actually needs emotional connection. Quality time with the parents, and validation for his clear feelings of jealousy towards his sibling to be.

Give your best line for “no”

@greydot Just a DASH of malicious compliance, I love it ❤️

Everytime she latches it feels like razor blades coming out of my nipples

@lsltylrs01 It’s absolutely not supposed to hurt this far in. The first few days can be intense if things aren’t going well, yes. But it should NOT hurt “like a mf” at 10 days. If it does, something needs to be optimized. Perhaps baby has a tongue tie or other tethered oral tissues. Baby might...

Supply dropping off. Desperate for advice!

@angelmtz1992 OH. One other thing - what lactation supplements are you taking, exactly? Can you please link to them so I can take a look at their ingredients?

Supply dropping off. Desperate for advice!

@christdied4me Yep. Almost everyone I’ve worked with has needed a smaller flange size. Sometimes they’ve needed one significantly smaller. I had one fam who was using 28mm and her nipples were 15mm. She was on so much pain and getting almost no milk, and had a bad bout of mastitis 😭 Within 4...

Supply dropping off. Desperate for advice!

@peersj54 I am hearing this more and more too, I am starting to suspect it’s not something that all LCs learn. It actually seems that more LCs DON’T know about flange sizing than do 😑

Supply dropping off. Desperate for advice!

@martina1 Ugh, it’s so brutal. “MOST WOMEN ARE THAT SIZE!?” Yeah because most women don’t know that there are other sizes available! Keep spreading the word! ❤️

Supply dropping off. Desperate for advice!

@christdied4me A lactation consultant should be able to do it! But the more I’m hearing about clients interactions with LCs the more I’m realizing that many LCs have no idea about flange sizing. So if you can’t find a professional, there are other options. I use digital calipers to measure...

Supply dropping off. Desperate for advice!

@angelmtz1992 Get professionally sized for flanges, and when you’re pumping, go back into stimulate mode until another letdown starts. Do this for a few days and you can very quickly boost your supply. Correct flange sizes are KEY! And I absolutely cannot stress that enough!!!!!

Today I decided to stop parenting my spouse

@bpolst Next step: stop doing his laundry completely and make that manchild do it himself. He sounds like someone who has to “babysit” his kids sometimes.

    Baby is constantly constipated

@dropdwhite Does he spend a lot of time scrunched up in bouncers/baby carriers/swaddles etc? Have you tried loosening the diaper?

    Absolutely insane digestion

@gordondb Try LMNT electrolyte packets, way better than Gatorade! And be very mindful of which type of magnesium you get. Bisglycinate will be the best for this purpose. If you don’t want to go with Miralax or similar, increase your fiber. Raspberries are surprisingly very high in fiber! You...

    Absolutely insane digestion

@gordondb You can still have diarrhea and be very, very constipated. The liquid just moves around the solid 😝 Definitely get your constipation sorted out, 600mg of magnesium bisglycinate nightly should help but for the immediate time period, try Miralax or some other type of OSMOTIC laxative...

My son lost 6 oz of weight between Friday and yesterday despite eating very regularly and having all the diapers needed to be “normal”

@aletia Speak to an IBCLC. Your pediatrician unfortunately has given you a lot of really incorrect advice. Peds are simply not feeding specialists. They don’t actually have education in that field.
