Considering quitting to SAH- looking for perspective on kid in full-time daycare

@mariomarco His school doesn’t offer part time but I would pick up earlier if not working. I would love to go back to school! Just feels kind of crazy because I’ve already been through many years of expensive schooling…but I have always kept that as a potential option in the future.

@josh88 This sounds ideal. I’m glad I posted because the responses have really made me think and been helpful. I am thinking a situation like what you describe will be our goal.

Considering quitting to SAH- looking for perspective on kid in full-time daycare

@aparnatrophy I feel this and it’s one of the major cons. But I’m hopeful that when they’re older and don’t need me as much, I can get back into work and making money. I’m trying to shift my mindset from thinking that money is the best thing I can provide for them to maybe my time is the more...

Considering quitting to SAH- looking for perspective on kid in full-time daycare

@andre002 I don’t think there’s a very compelling reason, other than it’s a fairly large distraction that I don’t feel motivated for. I resent that it takes away my time and energy from my kids. It’s impacting my breastfeeding of my baby, and I resent that too. I also don’t have time for...

Considering quitting to SAH- looking for perspective on kid in full-time daycare

@trinny My son’s current school doesn’t offer a part time option and we were / are currently both full time working parents. But after reading these comments I am thinking for my daughter that I will keep her home longer, and then put her in a part time program.

@remims I wish. My field tends to be difficult to find part time work in.

Considering quitting to SAH- looking for perspective on kid in full-time daycare

@missflora I really do want to, I am just nervous that I’m idealizing what it will be like and may regret this decision, so trying to think about everything. I’ve never been someone who loves my job or working, even though I consider myself very privileged with my career. But I have always...

Considering quitting to SAH- looking for perspective on kid in full-time daycare

@joshuasamuelquiroz Unfortunately I’m not in a field where it’s particularly easy to jump in and out. I’m a corporate lawyer. And while I don’t think it’s easy, it’s not impossible. And there are a lot of things I can do with a law degree (I just have to find those options). But I’m not...

Considering quitting to SAH- looking for perspective on kid in full-time daycare

@peggyleggy I would not plan to re-enter the workforce when my daughter is 18 months, or when she goes to school. For 1, I would like to have another baby. 2, as far as jobs for me go, I’m at a good one, so I wouldn’t leave this job only to find a different one in a year.

Considering quitting to SAH- looking for perspective on kid in full-time daycare

@ramonguitar I have read the studies you reference and agree with you. I think he has gotten all of the things you’ve mentioned - it’s just precious to see this little world and community that he has away from home. But as I think about it, I agree with you, it’s probably nothing he needs to...

@dahtra Thank you for this! This is exactly how I view it. There are a lot of responsibilities to maintaining and home and family that can easily fill a day.

Considering quitting to SAH- looking for perspective on kid in full-time daycare

My husband and I have been seriously discussing the possibility that I quit my job to stay home. We have a 2.5 yo and 6m old. One of the (many) things I’m grappling with re this decision is my 2.5 yo’s school. He’s been in full time daycare at a small Montessori that we LOVE. He goes from 9:30-5...
