@anewday According to the article (which take it for what it is) most of the teachers were for it, but some of the ones that I know were vehemently against it and were vocal about it.
@anotherslaveofchrist We’re such a small community we unfortunately don’t have anything like that, even our boys and girls club is understaffed and already said they won’t accommodate Fridays. Thanks for your suggestions ♥️
@nichola1970 Being in rural Montana the travel times to other schools/cities can be anywhere from 2-4+ hours so lots of weekend games and travel. Still ridiculous to punish the rest of the student body and the parents to make it easier on the athletes to miss school.
@nehsewokayydocyelad We live next to a reservation too and many of those students especially rely on school for their meals. When COVID shut down the schools they passed out meals daily, breakfast and lunch, for families who relied on it. This breaks my heart.
@giakhangkt1987 Teachers still have to work at least half days on Fridays which are now “support days”. As if the students who need extra academic support are going to show up to a non-mandatory school day when they could be off with their friends.
They made the decision on behalf of the teachers and students. Fridays will be a half-day “support day” for students who need extra support, but it’s optional. The decision was heavily impacted by teachers frustration with student athlete’s and having to always do make up work for missed...
