Can anyone actually get baby in backpack position themselves??

@outofplace_christian Ok - to start when baby was really little (6 months to 12 months or so), if I didn’t have help I would set my carrier flat on a bed or trunk of a car, lay baby on top of it with his legs through the correct things and then lean back and clip the carrier + baby onto me then...

Pediatrician says I’m nursing my 4 week old too often - not sure what to do

@l22 It’s pretty wild, it would be fine if most doctors would just own up to the fact that they don’t know. It shouldn’t be that hard to say “I’m not an expert on breastfeeding, here is how you can access an IBCLC and here are some places to look online” My first pediatrician was pretty adamant...

Pediatrician says I’m nursing my 4 week old too often - not sure what to do

@christopher000 Doctors have very little training in breastfeeding (unless they seek more training and certifications out). The general rule that "you cannot overfeed a breastfed baby" definitely applies here. If your baby wants to use you for comfort, thats normal... their whole world was just...

    Greek yogurt vs homo milk

@nasrani I’m a big fan, I wish there was a slightly closer location to me! Trying to cut as much single use packaging from my life (especially tetra paks). I don’t have a berry solution yet… keeping up with my toddlers berry consumption results in so many plastic clam shells every week!

    Greek yogurt vs homo milk

@linda73 Oh it’s special fancy milk in the US too! Homogenized is definitely the standard

    Greek yogurt vs homo milk

@heloise23 You’re totally right, we did have “cream top” milk in glass jars at my US grocery stores, my brain just did not put those two things together! Delivery seems great! I go through 3L of milk a week between coffees, baking and my toddler. These days I trek into town on the bus to pick...

    Greek yogurt vs homo milk

@heloise23 I recently started buying non homogenized milk from a “milk vending machine” where I bring in my glass jugs to get filled. But that’s literally the first time in my 30 years that I’ve encountered non homogenized milk (lived in the US - Bay Area CA until 2 years ago when I moved to...

    Glass bottles keep cracking

@pokerfaceblonde We used lifefactory which is borosilicate glass. I would look for borosilicate glass (any brand)to avoid any cracking or shattering! I heated up our bottles mostly in the hottest tap water but occasionally with a kettle if I was really pressed for time. I never had a problem

How the heck are y’all getting 3-4 oz from one boob!! I’m lucky if I can get 1-2 oz between the both. It’s driving me crazy!!

@higherground I get 3-5 ounces from each breast… but it’s a weird set of circumstances! I usually feed baby at 5:30 on the breast then he gets a bottle at 7:30 of pumped milk, then I pump to replace that feed at 10ish because LO doesn’t usually wake up until after midnight. So it’s a replacement...

15 months in…. When do I sleep again?

@jelili I wouldn’t call that “sleep training” and am curious what your source is on sleep training being “essential and doctor recommended”? We “sleep trained” but used the sleep wave method and never let our baby cry for more than 5 minutes. Every baby’s needs are so different and they...

F the cult-like following of certain carrier brands (Happy Baby)

@immanuelsdottir The next “drop” is in a few weeks, so used prices always spike when there are no available new ones to purchase. I will say that I see people post “ISO” (in search of) posts for carriers around 100-125 and they often get ppl selling for that amount. I have 2 carriers (one OG...

Ads and instructions for the Fisher Price Newborn Rock n Play Sleeper

@cindyfernandez Im not part of a shoes off culture/house (although most of the time we take our shoes off) and we just have blankets (mostly handmade quilts) we throw on the floor to put our baby on like a play mat.

What’s the best option for baby wearing after a c-section?

@cptbobproffesoromemeology Also came here to suggest a happy baby! I didn’t have a C-section but the waist band is nowhere close to where the incision would be

Am I supposed to run 3 whole washer cycles every 1-2 days for 3-8 tiny rectangles?

@wisper Other things I add: - cloth napkins - kitchen towels - wash cloths/cloth wipes I do 2 washes, a 30 minute fast cycle in warm with 1/2 scoop of detergent. Hot heavy duty wash with full scoop of detergent. You could probably wait and do it after 4 days, I know I occasionally forget...
