How to support a gifted child?

@aegisheart I was a gifted child and I’ve been objectively a rather successful in my career endeavours at a young age. Frankly, I think I flourished because my parents didn’t really know what to do with me, so I was left to explore the world on my own. The advice I would give from my...

What happens to poor sleepers who aren’t sleep trained?

@testking Like I say, my comment is purely anecdotal based on my baby at this current life stage, you get what you pay for with free advice.

What happens to poor sleepers who aren’t sleep trained?

@ebveloz Anecdotal evidence here. I don’t think I would agree with marking infants who need support to fall asleep as poor sleepers. My 4 month old is not sleep trained as we don’t believe in it, and she falls asleep on the boob every night at around 10pm. She moves to her crib and sleeps 7-9...

Pediatrician says I’m nursing my 4 week old too often - not sure what to do

@christopher000 You can ignore anyone who tells you not to feed a hungry baby. And FWIW, I think my daughter was permanently attached to the boob until she started solids and both our IBCLC and paediatrician were very happy with how often she fed.

Fertility and the COVID vaccine: a scientific breakdown

@neilbert They were almost exactly two months apart, so not in the same cycle.

Fertility and the COVID vaccine: a scientific breakdown

@fcb349 Thank you for sharing. The conclusion here seems to tally with how my period came early and was more painful for two cycles after my second dose. It certainly didn’t affect my fertility as I was pregnant less than 4 months later in spite of some existing fertility challenges.

Birth by C-section more than doubles odds of measles vaccine failure. Should I test?

@danielson And yours! I know our daughter has been wearing hats for 3 year olds since she was 14 months old. Hopefully she’ll get his height and it’ll look proportionate!

Birth by C-section more than doubles odds of measles vaccine failure. Should I test?

@danielson I don’t even have a particularly narrow pelvis, my daughter just has her father’s enormous head! My OB actually laughed during my emergency c section and said ‘there was no way she was getting out’. She had a massive ring around her head where she was stuck.

What happens to poor sleepers who aren’t sleep trained?

@doris23 Same here, I was sleep trained with CIO as a baby and I find it horrendously difficult to get to sleep, and I have done since I can remember (about 8 years old).

Feeling alone in not sleep training

@keithparagon I’m a Brit who lives abroad, and all my friends back home sleep trained so I totally get you. I got a LOT of advice because my daughter was a shocking sleeper (like wake every 45 mins shrieking kind of sleeper), but my husband and I chose to persevere without sleep training. It’s...

Got an 'answer' for my "next level" velcro baby. I was too stressed while pregnant.

@nazpastor You also don’t have to go to the MCN appointments (I had an awful first one and my lactation consultant told me that it was optional). Another option, depending on how rural you are, is that you could see one in another council if you have parents or in laws there? Initially we had to...

Breaking great-grandma’s heart for not letting baby CIO

@bigskyguy76 The family are just as capable of driving as you are, and it’s far easier to drive without a baby screaming in the backseat. If they can’t be bothered to make the effort, that’s their issue.

My baby won’t sleep and I’m at the end of my rope

@pz128 I’m so sorry that you’ve been brought up in a society that expects you to be recovered from childbirth immediately. As someone who almost died in childbirth and had a long, complex surgery to save my life the day my daughter was born, my road to recovery continued until she was nearly a...

Why is Everyone Sick all the Time?

@7thunders I think this is a brilliant post! Entirely anecdotal, but I’m a ‘novid’ (one of those few who is yet to catch covid). I still wear an N95 in most crowded/health locations. My health is genuinely never been better, so I doubt mask wearing is the issue. I should add as an aside that my...

My baby won’t sleep and I’m at the end of my rope

@joeyfish That’s why I said that was the absolute worst day, and as he was on an airplane (not as a pilot), I don’t think that road users were in too much danger. We had a baby who barely slept for 5 months. I’d have been dead if we didn’t share the load. My husband and I both have highly...

My baby won’t sleep and I’m at the end of my rope

@pz128 Look it wasn’t a great time for either of us, but our daughter wouldn’t sleep more than 45 mins at a time from 4-9 months and my husband did most of the night work because he said I needed more sleep than he did (recovering from childbirth and continuing breastfeeding). That meant at the...

C-Section Babies and Probiotics. What’s the science?

@dekaewaii Perfume, makeup, lip balm etc. used by caregivers too. I changed lip balm because I felt like it made my newborn’s acne worse.
