I’ve had a fever every day for 8 days and I’m so pissed off.

@gina I am so sorry, I had some virus about a month ago, that took me out in a similar fashion — and then even though the cough and fevers were better, I was so tired. Like probably could not have roused from a burning building fatigue! I absolutely had to nap. I started getting worried that I...

How do you manage grocery requests?

@joeawilliams123 Yes, food is so dang expensive. I have not priced the frozen convenience sandwiches, but I still complain complain because my teens what things like frozen protein açaí bowls, Naked Smoothie juices, and copious amounts of frozen fruit and protein powder for homemade smoothies...

How do you manage grocery requests?

@joeawilliams123 I do not think your answer is wrong. I really do not, but if I was in your home, I would gauge how much it upsets my daughter and ask myself if this is a battle worth picking. It may be or maybe not. As far as our home — I buy my so much food including snacks that they do not...

How to respond to the people who say “WeLl CaN’t YoU jUsT wOrK fRoM hOmE?”

@mahyrah That’s an interesting perspective…and then mention something else.

My kid wakes up every day at 4am and I’m drowning

@mickaela I am so sorry, I just moved my bedtime up accordingly and woke with my rooster kids, during the ages when they required attention. BUT, if your child is wanting food, then more sleep — I actually would treat this as a nighttime wakening & at 18 months, that means, for my family, they...

    Dr says I’m overfeeding

@glen101 So, I totally I overfed my baby (oversupply issues). He was so roly-poly, off the growth charts. So I would look at the growth charts, and if all is well, not a\worry about it. And of note, although I would not recommend over feeding, anecdotally, he is a slim, trim, fit 16 year old now.

Do you all accommodate any kids activity/sport you can? Or do you draw a line even if you COULD make it happen?

@dennisbon Soccer mom from another middle class family here — take the middle ground, find a low ranked competitive team or an eager rec team, that maybe does a tourney here & there, but HELL no, do you need to be that competitive at ages 6&8. They can practice their foot skills at home if...

13 y/o giving his number out against my wishes

@susanpath32 I know it is hard to get the full understanding of the situation from your short little post, and I know you love your son. I can sense from your responses you are defensive and have strong feelings about you parenting decisions. First — almost all 8th graders will have smart...

Daughter broke up with her boyfriend of 4 years & it’s like I’m going through a breakup.

@sylvie I am sorry. You are going through a loss. Betrayal & loss painful, even if the relationship is not a romantic one. You will go through all the stages of grief, anger, denial, sadness, etc. and finely get to acceptance.

Absolutley crappy U.S. materinity leave and FMLA... what are my options?

@nancyeab I agree with the others, if the company is small, it may not qualify for FMLA. And you will need to be careful about getting a new job, as FMLA does not apply until you have been there a year. I also have never worked for an employer that pays for maternity leave. I have always had to...

What kind of car do you drive?

@amy422 Yep, you just cannot beat the ease of a mini-van. Love my Toyota Sienna, We have a big teasing joke among my friend group as many say “ugh, I just can’t be that person/mom” (driving a mini-van) I’m like, “but, you…you ARE that person, you ARE responsible for small human beings and must...

    So they don’t wear coats?

@mcdiggety Yes, it has been the trend now for my kids for over a decade - Midwest. All 3 of my kids just left the house in hoodies in 21 degree F weather.

Seeking advice about having 3 kids in daycare!

@chillcwill I had 3 children in daycare from just May to August, but then 2 kids in daycare and one in a before and after care setting after that. It did cost more than my husband’s take-home pay. But 1) his talents do NOT lie in providing early education to small, needy children 2) his company...

    Taking away phone

@gmeyers1944 Sending strong parenting vibes your way!! I am only guessing as we have not taken away phones — but I would expect the 5 stages of loss/grief. So bunker down for anger, denial, bargaining, depression prior to acceptance!! My sister did try it with her child not due to phone...

Text from my 14 yr old son

@sheryll Ack, that is tough. I think I would take a step back and try to connect more and understand what is going on with him. The fact that he is texting you so disrespectful ly, makes me think your relationship is pretty strained.

My daughter failed 9th grade and I do not know what to do about it

@farmerdex You obviously are the expert on your child. I certainly will not pretend that I know what is best for her. I can only speak about my experience as a parent to teens & navigation of the educational system. A neuro͎-psych exam is not done by a neurologist, but a psychologist who is...

I want my 17 year old daughter out of my house… I think

@ericlee Ehhh, it’s semantics, you can call it developmentally age-focused on self. But whatever you call it — teens do often lack consideration for parents or others, (as this mom pointed out her daughter doing in this post), be it developmentally appropriate or not — that lack of...

My daughter failed 9th grade and I do not know what to do about it

@farmerdex If not done previously, my child would be getting a full private neuro͎-psych evaluation. It will be about $2000-2600 dollars. It is expensive, but it is an investment. Understanding how to maximize a child’s academic success is priceless, in my opinion. My child would be in summer...

I want my 17 year old daughter out of my house… I think

@lakatide I am proud of you. You have worked so hard! But your daughter still has had all that trauma, in addition to normal developmental teen hormones & selfishness. Teens experiment with drugs and have sex, even without having an absent, incarcerated father and living with financial...
