Do you all accommodate any kids activity/sport you can? Or do you draw a line even if you COULD make it happen?

@dennisbon Since you said he enjoyed it more in the summer, are there any soccer camps he could sign up for next year? Seems like a good compromise - he can get more intense sports participation, but limited to the time of the year when he (and the family) have more free time.

Anyone else want to go back to 1992 when every single grade didn’t have a “graduation” ceremony?

@keepwalking The typical sequence is pre-K/maybe K/5th grade/8th grade/HS where I live. I think the people saying it’s every single year are exaggerating (unless there are some places where they really are having 3rd grade graduations, but I doubt it).

Anyone else want to go back to 1992 when every single grade didn’t have a “graduation” ceremony?

@louisev Pre-K graduations were a thing long before social media or even the internet in many places. I had one in 1996.

Anyone else want to go back to 1992 when every single grade didn’t have a “graduation” ceremony?

@katrina2017 It’s cute and fun? You want to recognize an important milestone in their lives/them growing up? I get that they probably go overboard with these kinds of things sometimes, and I get that it can be hard as a working parent. But you could theoretically ask if there is any benefit for...

Anyone else want to go back to 1992 when every single grade didn’t have a “graduation” ceremony?

@dekta09 One of my favorite photos of me and my dad is from my pre-K graduation in 1996, with me in my little cap and gown.

Anyone else want to go back to 1992 when every single grade didn’t have a “graduation” ceremony?

@monkeym24 Not the commenter above, but I’m from Brooklyn, NY and also had multiple graduations/“moving up ceremonies” growing up (pre-K, 5th, and 8th before HS, not sure about kindergarten). I graduated HS in 2009, so the pre-K graduation was in 1996.

@lackadaisical I think I had a little cap and gown for my pre-K graduation, if I remember correctly from the photos I’ve seen? Though I went to Catholic school so maybe they were less conscious of parents’ budgets than public school would have been.

    Can we overfeed our babies?

@mightyheart It’s weird to me your doctor even asked about feeding frequency? Our pediatrician just asked about total ounces per day. My daughter also was often doing over 32oz a day around 4 months and the doctor never acted like this was a bad thing.

Do you go to bed when your baby does?

@klsmo3 My baby doesn’t have a set bedtime yet, and is 50/50 on going to bed at 8-ish versus 10-ish depending on what her schedule was like earlier in the day. I’m not inherently opposed to going to bed earlier on the earlier bedtime days, but I’m often just really bad at it. I really should...

    Exclusively pumping 3 weeks pp.

@zoznoz I would say if you want to give latching one more go and haven’t done this already, I saw a lactation consultant once before I quit pumping/switched to formula and I’m glad I did so even though it didn’t work out. When even the LC couldn’t get baby to take more than 1.5oz (measured by...

    Starting a co-sleeping tradition - once a week

@takeonme OP is talking about co-sleeping with a 3-year-old though, so that doesn’t apply here. The only “risk” would be behavioral.

Income keeps going up but husband doesn’t want to outsource any chores

@lauren1023 Yup I feel like it might not be about the money with his mom being a cleaner. If so I wonder if focusing on the lawn care first might be better? Even though I get why OP would want to focus on the cleaning more if she is doing that more and husband is doing the lawn more.

Do you all accommodate any kids activity/sport you can? Or do you draw a line even if you COULD make it happen?

@benftw The only thing that sucks is it seems like school-based opportunities are often limited these days especially for younger kids? Even the rec league sounds like it requires someone to take the kid to practice, just at least less often.

    Paced bottle feeding?

@clarinetscore I never did this bc I had the same concern (about baby sucking in air). Baby has been fine as far as I can tell 🤷‍♀️. The only thing about not doing this method is the baby may be more likely to develop a flow preference if you are also trying to nurse (definitely happened to...

What to do when best is impossible (Emily Oster)

@agent47 Are there any official parenting guidelines against bedsharing with a child that age? I thought the recommendation was only for infants due to suffocation risk.

the changes between 6-9 months range has been insane!!!

@zetticci I was not a fan of the newborn phase at all. My daughter is even generally a pretty chill baby and a good sleeper but overall it was just a lot of work for what felt like not a lot of reward in terms of interaction with the baby. Of course I loved my daughter from the beginning, but I...

    Exclusively pumping 3 weeks pp.

@zoznoz Even purely considering the baby and not my own mental health at all, I felt like the time suck of pumping meant that I couldn’t be as good a mom to her. (Not saying anything bad about other pumping moms, just talking about my personal experience). What made me quit was one time when...

    EFF, c-section and micro biome?

@nyguy86 I was a C-section + formula baby 32 years ago. My only major health issue is that I lean a bit constipated on average, lol. The microbiome thing is not total nonsense as there are some benefits to breastfeeding of course, but IMO they are minor enough to not be worth worrying about if...

CMPA "Else Plant-Based Complete Nutrition for Toddlers"

@free251986 This formula is not meant for babies under a year old, if you read the FAQs. Make sure whatever you buy is specifically designed for infants. What about the soy/amino acid formulas is making you want to try other options?
  20. G

    What’s your favorite formula?

@conner74 Regular Similac (360 Total Care). It’s what we got as samples from the hospital and she did well on it so we just kept buying it. The “5 HMO prebiotics” thing is probably mostly a gimmick, but I like to think it’s helping her microbiome. I’ve heard good things about Kirkland formula...
