Need encouragement… Dr wants me to stop BF, close to failure to thrive, slow gain

Your baby might have a problem and might need supplementation, but please don’t despair or assume it’s over! A good LC is amazing and can help troubleshoot and likely get you back to EBF. Hopefully, they will also be willing to advocate for you to your pediatrician. They can also be a huge...

Need encouragement… Dr wants me to stop BF, close to failure to thrive, slow gain

@kars I’d get second opinions from both the LC and pediatrician first. I had horrible experiences with multiple pediatricians, and one bad LC at a hospital. Make sure they are using the new/updated WHO chart (the CDC one was geared towards formula fed babies). Sometimes babies at birth can...

Transition from Full-time to Part-time Denied?!

@randall1967 We have remote and flexible hours in my industry, but nobody will do part time as a general rule. Can I ask your industry?

Overwhelmed - want something super easy to take off at home (not necessarily perfect) and possibly also something to wear out or at night

@chrisleatherman40 Thank you! We'll start with this. It's also the least intimidating and will cut down on the majority of the disposables we use anyway.

Transition from Full-time to Part-time Denied?!

@randall1967 I know this wasn’t the point of your post, but how / where do you plan to look for part time positions? At least within my industry, I can’t find any that are advertised! When I left, they did offer me part time after I’d already become so burnt out from having a part time request...

Overwhelmed - want something super easy to take off at home (not necessarily perfect) and possibly also something to wear out or at night

@lifeword 9mo, on solids, crawling and coasting and standing. I think EC only matters because I’m wondering if I need to use a waterproof cover when at home. Ie the goal isn’t to avoid getting his clothes wet and if he starts to go, he’ll only get a couple of seconds in before I move him over.

Overwhelmed - want something super easy to take off at home (not necessarily perfect) and possibly also something to wear out or at night

@buckeye_momof4 Thank you! We're also starting EC late (well, kind of, we briefly did it earlier, but then took a break while traveling for a bit and then moving). We're thinking prefolds + wool diaper belt or snappi at home during the day, then either a Puppi wool velcro diaper cover or a wool...

Overwhelmed - want something super easy to take off at home (not necessarily perfect) and possibly also something to wear out or at night

What we wound up buying and recommend nowadays: * prefolds (GMD) (6-12?) * merino wool diaper belt (Babee Greens) * flat diapers (GMD) (6-12?) * doubler, night (GMD) * merino wool liner, night (GMD or Babee Greens) * cover, either single diaper cover in baby’s size and a size up at night from...

Overwhelmed - want something super easy to take off at home (not necessarily perfect) and possibly also something to wear out or at night

Feeling overwhelmed, so might cloth diaper part time to at least start! But I have 3 needs/situations: 1) Baby is home in just a diaper (or possibly also leg warmers and tshirt). We are starting elimination communication, so if we have a miss I will immediately (ideally) see it and move him to...

Breastfeeding exclusively 3-6 month old infant while WFH

@lsume Thank god! Nursing less than 10 minutes every 3 hours or so is less than the breaks I'd take for myself anyway. I think I'll adjust my expectations to be very low during his third month, though, just in case, but with the understanding that it'll be temporary. Will definitely be getting...

@sanjose1982 Thank you! This sounds similar to my setup.

Breastfeeding exclusively 3-6 month old infant while WFH

@bbarb I think our team's culture and my particular job does actually support this, thankfully. Any guidance on how many hours we'll spend breastfeeding in that 3-6 month period?

“You’re so lucky you can afford to stay home”

@merekas Controversial and feel like I can’t even tell anyone I’m a SAHM because it’s seen as such a privilege. And I agree! I feel so incredibly blessed and it’s a privilege, absolutely. But what they really mean is that they wouldn’t be able to afford their current lifestyle if one person...

At the point of wanting to burn my ring sling

@blessedj316 Honestly, I got a (cheaper) version of a ring sling and really wanted to love it. It’s beautiful, the fabric is soft and light linen, perfect for summer, fast to put on… It got better. I was able to wear it far more comfortably, baby was far more comfortable. But was it ever...

STM’s, did you actually “bounce back”?

@cuteness20 How are you defining "bouncing back"? How long did you train prior to getting pregnant? What level are you "bouncing back" to? Was it endurance or strength based? The longer you trained something, the easier it is to recover prior levels. The higher level you are, the longer it might...

Breastfeeding exclusively 3-6 month old infant while WFH

@icantthinkofausername Why would pumping be different than breastfeeding in a WFH situation? I'd have whomever was taking care of him in another room / nearby (ie same time to feed vs pump).

Breastfeeding exclusively 3-6 month old infant while WFH

@opaldigger Yes, husband and I plan to work in shifts and have an in home sitter/nanny for X hours. I'd come out when he was hungry. My schedule's flexible; just need to be able to put in enough work throughout the day's course. That's fantastic; hadn't realized this was a thing. In a WFFH...

Breastfeeding exclusively 3-6 month old infant while WFH

@ldrkert4 If you had a WFH job that had few to no calls/meetings, would you have still pumped instead? And can I ask how much time you spent pumping during months 3-6?

Breastfeeding exclusively 3-6 month old infant while WFH

I have 3 months of maternity leave... which I know is a blessing, in this country. However, many refer to breastfeeding as a bit of a full time job, especially during the first 6 months of a baby's life, where they feed quite a bit and aren't yet eating any whole foods. I'll be working from...

Am I supposed to run 3 whole washer cycles every 1-2 days for 3-8 tiny rectangles?

@jean100 What does a daily prewash look like?
