When the fuck did you all stop sweating?

@glenwoodinncc Had a very funny moment the other night: Son has a speech delay but he's starting to talk more. My wife exclaimed HOLY SHIT in front of him, and he smiled. I said "Hey don't repeat that." Then he goes "HOOOOOOOOLY—" ended up not finishing it but we laughed our asses off. I...

1 year and a half in - sleep is impossible

@lyzza631 Totally fair, but they also need to learn to self soothe. So I mean, it's a pick your poison situation. But I think, from my perspective, it's better to let them cry it out because lack of sleep hurts everyone in a much more visceral way.

1 year and a half in - sleep is impossible

@loadedcafe Yeah, I think parents get really sucked into the mythos that young kids just drain you to death. So they don't always wonder if they can do anything to make it better now. They just default to waiting it and being passive about pain points.

@fassy Then yeah I'd say swing for a 1.5 hour snooze during the day

1 year and a half in - sleep is impossible

@fassy What's bed time for your kid? Does he have behavioral hiccups during the day because he's tired? My 2.5 year old goes down at 1 pm, wakes up between 3 and 4 pm. He still sleeps a decent bit because he has pretty mild cerebral palsey and sleep is good for his speech delay. I'd say...

1 year and a half in - sleep is impossible

@bondo You guys need to sleep train, like yesterday. One and a half is waaaaaay too old to be waking up 5/7 a night. Your kid should be getting 11-14 hours of sleep a day. So, say bedtime is 8 pm and wakeup is 6 am. Your kid should be sleeping a maximum of 3-4 hours for naps by this point...

1 year and a half in - sleep is impossible

@seosmooze Cosleeping is such a mixed bag, doubt it'd work for this guy's kid. I've only ever heard horror stories from the people I know who've tried it. Hyper clingy kids as they're older, behavioral issues, nuked sex life for the parents, etc. If it's working for you, I guess that's good?

1 year and a half in - sleep is impossible

@laodicean60 There's something else going on if sleep is evading hour kids still. Really dial in your nighttime routines. No screen time, clear wind down rituals like "we're going to read 1-3 books before bed!" Otherwise, and you'd be the only ones to really know this, perhaps there's...

1 year and a half in - sleep is impossible

@otruitt 8 pm to 6 am is our magic window. My kid will sometimes be awake till 9 pm but I think that's largely because he can get overstimulated. If you're pushing 10 pm you're likely having an overstimulation problem and should reevaluate evening wind down activities. Screen time (blue light)...
