People who “diagnose” themselves with fertility issues before they even start trying

@raymond723 I was saying subfertility is used in the medical sense meaning the exact same thing as infertility.. It's not some infertility-light. It's just try different names for the same thing - medically speaking. Infertility still also does not mean someone can't conceive without...

People who “diagnose” themselves with fertility issues before they even start trying

@raymond723 Subfertile and infertile are medically the same thing, defined as trying for a year. Some regions favour one term over the other. I think op made pretty clear that having valid concerns and seeing a doctor over it is okay. I also had concerns about my irregular cycle, I didn't go to...

People who “diagnose” themselves with fertility issues before they even start trying

@jmueller I think it's actually sensible to make people who don't have any red flags (like anovulation or chemo history etc) try 12 month. That in itself is the most important test for fertility. It sucks. But overtreatment and overdiagnosis can do much more harm than good.

People who “diagnose” themselves with fertility issues before they even start trying

@jmueller No I can definitely relate to the relief I felt with getting an answer, because of rather have certainly above a better chance (it appears). Unfortunately what followed is a full blown life-crisis. It's just so much harder than I could have ever imagined.

People who “diagnose” themselves with fertility issues before they even start trying

@jmueller Personally my infertility feelings are much worse than any fear about it ever was. I think it really depends on the options and how it goes. I hope you don't need to re-evaluate your stance. Yes initially after testing I felt a bit better - having a plan forward, having a clear answer...

People who “diagnose” themselves with fertility issues before they even start trying

@manitouscott @people like @maremma Who didn't understand why it's insensitive to self diagnose with infertility before the fact or rant about their unfounded fears about it. Infertility is other people's damn reality. While it may only be your fear. It's like if I would be talking about a...

What milestones were hardest for you on your TTC journey?

@hotinco Loss after our second transfer > the other two failed transfers > hitting the 2 year mark > getting an IVF only diagnosis> hitting the one year mark.

@janu It's called confirmation bias. I think it's also really important to chose the right audience to vent to.

Our RE just made me feel like we are "barren"...completely shocked and a little lost

@deojames I think that's very weird since you've been trying for 3-4 month and neither of those parameters (AMH or morphology - and they don't seem that bad either) actually impact chance to conceive unassisted especially in - how the medical guidelines call it: - "unproven fertility"...

Our RE just made me feel like we are "barren"...completely shocked and a little lost

@deojames Just had a thought I had since yesterday. Sorry if it's weird. But did you maybe have a miscarriage that could have caused some of the irregularities?

Our RE just made me feel like we are "barren"...completely shocked and a little lost

@deojames Wasn't that related to your mild hypothyroidism which seems to be resolved now you started trying? Anyway get another doctor. Because this seems very predatory/money grabbing.

Our RE just made me feel like we are "barren"...completely shocked and a little lost

@krython I'm always curious what people mean when they say "irregular cycles" so I looked at OP's history. They are on cycle 4 or 5 in 4 month. I agree that what this RE suggests sounds not okay!

Our RE just made me feel like we are "barren"...completely shocked and a little lost

@krython Yeah.I do think OP is US based and 1, 7 Ng/L is 12.14pmol/l (so completely normal for UK standard you linked) The predicted age of menopause with that is >48

Our RE just made me feel like we are "barren"...completely shocked and a little lost

@krython How would AMH be linked to irregular cycles? I've never heard of that before. The only link I can think of is that people with PCOS often tend to have a high AMH (like 10) and tend to have irregular cycles. Not the other way round. But it's not really a casual link. 1.7 AMH isn't...

Our RE just made me feel like we are "barren"...completely shocked and a little lost

@nathanbarber It's in the first link. Yours seems to unfortunately be 5th percentile which means somewhere between 41-44prediction if I read this correctly maybe @mcg1102 wants to check me.

Our RE just made me feel like we are "barren"...completely shocked and a little lost

@krython AMH does as far as I've read not actually impact the chance per cycle. Age does and those are obviously related. But not AMH itself for the same age. Plus the numbers OP said don't actually predict menopause before 48. And I've not seen a medical guideline suggest monitoring for...

Can luteal phase defect be a sign of bad eggs?

@want2bsober You said in your post your LP before was about +-10 days. Which is normal. Not short. It really takes at least a year for your body to regulate. And luteal phase on its own does not cause infertility, but for people who deal with infertility (aka trying for a year which you're not...

Can luteal phase defect be a sign of bad eggs?

@want2bsober It's very normal to have a shorter LP after giving birth for actually a long time +-a year - also depending on type of feeding longer. If you're breastfeeding in any capacity that's most likely the culprit. But also your body might just take a little longer to regulate than a year...
