Big 4month old baby - switching from combi to EFF and struggling with volumes and naps

@yytg12 Yep you’d get referred by your GP but they generally only see unwell babies rather than providing advice. The health visiting team that another user suggested will probably be my first port of call, but it can be a very variable service.

Big 4month old baby - switching from combi to EFF and struggling with volumes and naps

@b5waddell That’s a good idea thanks. I’ve found that all the support is very focused on breastfeeding but hopefully they’ll be able to help with this too.

Big 4month old baby - switching from combi to EFF and struggling with volumes and naps

    @yytg12 I’m in the UK - we don’t have a personal paediatrician 😅

Big 4month old baby - switching from combi to EFF and struggling with volumes and naps

@katrina2017 Thank you, that’s good to know. I managed to find some UK guidelines that say 150-200ml/kg is ok, which makes me feel more comfortable giving him more as well.

Big 4month old baby - switching from combi to EFF and struggling with volumes and naps

@truescott Yeah that’s what he does in the night (clamps his little mouth shut, it’s very funny). Cool we’ll try a couple of bigger ones in the day and see how it goes. Thanks :)

Big 4month old baby - switching from combi to EFF and struggling with volumes and naps

Hi there I had been primarily breastfeeding my son but for various reasons we have switched to exclusively formula. He’s a big baby (>97th centile for weight) and struggling a bit with what amount to give him, also factoring in the fact he is still on 4 naps (which is working well sleep wise)...

    EFF, c-section and micro biome?

But really - some colostrum will be great and your baby will still have lots of immunity for the first few months just from all the antibodies you share from your placenta. Vaginal seeding (swab from your vagina smeared on babies face) is not standard practice and not currently recommended...

Early morning wakes (6m) - what to do about nap schedule

@rania 7pm bedtime, normally 2.5-3.25 hour last WW depending on nap gymnastics. Touch wood doesn’t seem to impact his night sleep much. Thanks, I’ll give it a try sticking to 3 and see how we go.

Baby’s new pediatrician told us that formula has no nutritional value 😳

@etolkk123 I’m based in the UK so our guidelines might be different (🙄) - here we only advise multivitamins if baby is having less than 500ml of formula a day.

@wolfwhohowlstoparadise Thanks - with or without the snooze feed?

Early morning wakes (6m) - what to do about nap schedule

My 6 month old is independent for nights and naps but has recently started waking for the day at 0530. Bedtime is 7, DWT is 7. Until recently we would give him a small bottle (4oz, normal is 7) and he would go back to sleep until we all woke up at 7. Lately he’s been having the bottle but then...

Baby’s new pediatrician told us that formula has no nutritional value 😳

@etolkk123 I’m a doctor. That doctor is being an idiot. I’m sorry you’ve had to put up with that and suggest you change paediatricians again, hopefully to someone who is less inclined to upset you. You are feeding your baby perfectly adequately.

Ok which matters more: WWs or Total Nap Time/24 hr sleep?

@everest Oh yes 04- is not a time that should be witnessed!

Ok which matters more: WWs or Total Nap Time/24 hr sleep?

@everest Ugh I got too smug and he’s just woken up from a 30 minute nap.

Ok which matters more: WWs or Total Nap Time/24 hr sleep?

@everest 8.5 months, similar boat even with a solid 2 nap schedule (3.5/3/4). My Overton window of acceptable morning wake has just shifted to 5.30 🤣 it seems like an acceptable price to pay when I know he’s generally quite “good” and predictable with his naps, which hasn’t been the case up till...
