If you or your partner was hospitalized for pre-eclampsia prior to delivering your little one, tell me about your experience

@kimhimmel Mine is a little bit different, but is a reminder that preeclampsia can happen up to six weeks after delivery. I ended up hospitalized for it AFTER my baby was born and when he was in the NICU. I went to triage one day while we were visiting our son because my incision was opening...

Did having a NICU baby change your tolerance to stress? Do you avoid triggering things?

@helentina The mother baby room with no baby was so hard for me. I would cry whenever I heard another baby crying and I’m crying again now thinking about it.

Feedings with Dr Brown’s nipple sizes - T too fast?

@mzglass We have been dealing with a comparable issue with the change from T to 1 for our son (our son was full term in the NICU, HIE diagnosis. Started out with nipple N in the NICU and then went to T - not sure if this same issue happened with that transition because he was not at home then...

Any experience from parents with babies with severe HIE?

@akj They have Facebook pages as well, but I recommend caution when joining them because HIE is such a huge spectrum and you see the best and the worst cases there. Sometimes I’ll see posts that cause me to spiral a bit because the wait and see game of HIE is so terrible and I’m going through...

those who don’t live near family: how do you spend your vacations?

@1stjohn0666 We don’t live near family, so we use our vacations to see them. My parents live in Florida, which is a popular vacation area so it’s easy to have a vacation there and do vacation-y things together and not just sit at home. We always spend Thanksgiving then (except this year due to...

    NICU journey day 3

@delisyn On the topic of “sick baby” - our NICU had a foundation that helped with a lot of costs. One such cost was paying for parking. In the informational packet, there was a sticker with the full logo for the foundation, and part of the name was “for critically ill children”. Seeing that...

    When does the guilt stop?

@blackbox My son’s doctor told me, “Unfortunately someone always has to be the statistic. We are just so sorry it had to be you.” That resonated with me and helped me with the logic of it not being my fault, but I still feel guilty that my body failed my son and he had to have his NICU stay. I...

35 weeks premie: currently 9 weeks but 4 weeks adjusted… need help please!

@bacondoughtnuts I have been counting the shart diapers as just wet diapers, because for our son at least, they’re wet from his urine output and don’t have enough poop to count as a poop diaper. He makes probably about ten wet urine diapers a day, but he also eats a ton and has always been on...

35 weeks premie: currently 9 weeks but 4 weeks adjusted… need help please!

@straykat Seconding this - especially the poop/shart constantly thing. My husband and I even sing “Baby Shart” (to the tune of “Baby Shark”) whenever it happens, which is more than once a day.
