Are any of y’all considering moving out of the country?

@stuka My family have been in the DR since the Taínos. We come from Taínos (and the Spaniards) to be exact. So we own a bit of land that we live and farm on in a more rural village. But my grandfather has no trouble feeding 10 people everyday, and still has lots of money. He sells his produce to...

Are any of y’all considering moving out of the country?

@stuka I’ve been in Argentina before for 6 weeks, I loved it there. The economy is unstable though. I would love the visit the DR and the plan was to go this summer but it seems that plan has changed

Are any of y’all considering moving out of the country?

@stuka I’ve been to Argentina before, but not the DR. We have a large family in both countries. The added benefit of living in either countries is that my kids get to grow up with one of my parents culture and their family. My bf is French/Italian but didn’t grow up with that parent, so they...

Are any of y’all considering moving out of the country?

@stuka Yeah I’m just worried about all the school shootings, especially since I not only grew up doing drills, we had a few active shooter situations. Luckily nobody got hurt but I don’t want to risk that.

Are any of y’all considering moving out of the country?

@erik1611 Some countries give citizenships to grandchildren and even great grandchildren of citizens if you’re able to prove it! I’m eligible for a few countries through that. Not sure if Sweden does that though

@navysteel I’m also very family oriented (as per Hispanic customs), and I noticed that countries like Sweden and Switzerland have this more, independent, thing going on. Their family dynamics are considerably different to Hispanic cultures from what I read.

@its_calvin I’m also eligible for Dominican citizenship! So if they aren’t too lax for non citizens I can always become one. I wouldn’t mind paying extra taxes for my home country

Are any of y’all considering moving out of the country?

@its_calvin My family owns the land in Santiago! I also have family from Puerto Plata, as that’s where most of us were born. I’m a computer science major so I was planning on working for a some years and then retiring early. But I can also do remote work, work freelance in the DR, start my own...

Are any of y’all considering moving out of the country?

@its_calvin We own land in the DR, and I already have my own plot. I just need money to build a house or buy one of my family’s houses on the plot.

@ginovat It’s silly but I’m terrified of Australia after seeing all their hardcore versions of animals, like spiders lol

Are any of y’all considering moving out of the country?

@hub781 I’m biracial, and so is my bf, except I came out White and he came out Black. Racism is a concern for me. I’m worried about how my boyfriend would be treated, any family members that come to visit, and my kids because we don’t know how they’ll look. Not to mention the kids will also be...

Are any of y’all considering moving out of the country?

@shaddixmoon Same about the anxiety. It doesn’t prevent me from hanging out or leaving the house, but I am very aware of my surroundings in public. I just randomly remembered that there are international schools in Japan, that may have a much more lax feel to it.

Are any of y’all considering moving out of the country?

@shaddixmoon I’m also scared of school shootings. What I like about Japan is the safety. I can let my kid be a kid and let them hangout with friends with little worry compared to the US. However I’m worried about the Japanese academics and how it’s apparently very stressful. The high school...

Are any of y’all considering moving out of the country?

@katrina2017 I’m glad y’all have that kind of flexibility. I’m eligible for Argentinian and Dominican citizenship, which would help. But it seems like my bf is nervous about learning Spanish

Are any of y’all considering moving out of the country?

I’m in the US. While no country is perfect, I feel like there are others that have it a bit better (and safer). I was thinking my parents home countries of Argentina and the DR. My bf brought up Sweden and Switzerland. Are y’all considering moving?
