Sleep Training 1 month later (thank you r/sleeptrain!)

@hmt002 I'm writing a post at the moment about our gentle method, a diy combo of a few ideas. ==Gentle Sleep training methods:== https://misunderstoodmotherhood.substack.com/p/give-baby-a-chance?r=5eurk&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&utm_source=copy Give baby a chance method There's...

Prepare me for the family battle...!

@beverend First timer here too, pretty much full time cloth (we had some disposables at the start.) I'm super lucky because my mum did cloth and my sister is doing cloth with her two bubs. So no real conflict there, except we do liners, they don't. For my in-laws, it wasn't really discussed...

How Can We Make r/sleeptrain A Better Sub for Sleepy Parents?

@shiftybroccoli I mean that there are a lot of posts about, for example, scheduling, swaddling, etc etc that aren't necessarily sleep training per se. I think that's really great, in case that wasn't clear!

How Can We Make r/sleeptrain A Better Sub for Sleepy Parents?

@shiftybroccoli You know, I was thinking that while this sub is called sleeptrain, it is kind of a place were all sorts of sleep questions get asked, that might not be sleep training specific. I like it, and while we are on a different sleep training pace to many people here, it's the general...

How Can We Make r/sleeptrain A Better Sub for Sleepy Parents?

@shiftybroccoli It's probably Reddit culture a bit, but I feel like people come here asking questions and there aren't as many who stick around to share answers. I got over this but I remember feeling like I had poured in a lot to answer questions and then when I had a question- crickets...

    Schedule

@vdot You're doing great. Newborns are brand new (obviously!) and don't have a good understanding of how this life outside the womb works. Newborns don't really have a 'bed time' but nap around the clock. That said, they do start to have longer stretches at night as they mature their sleep...

One side or both sides per feeding?

@keke1223 Baby preference. My eldest did mostly just one side and my youngest insists on both. My eldest would fall asleep on the boob, youngest would violently fling herself off when done. It's very ok to offer both and very ok if baby doesn't want it.

Stuck with 3-4 naps cycling every few days

@bluesky123 So naps can be short because baby is over tired and because baby is undertired. I'd suggest trying 2/2.5/2.5/3 as a 3 nap schedule to see if that works. If you do need a fourth nap, try just a 10-15 minute micronap to bridge to bedtime. (So instead of a too long 4 hour window, two...

4 month regression, independent sleep & sleep training

@melsna The "regression" is actually a major sleep development! You can't really skip it. Schedule really helps baby be ideally tired when you put them down. Sorry I can't write more, baby sleep guide in my profile.

1 and 3 year old. What do we doooo all day!?

@ahead I'm in Australia and found that when I actually twigged the first year they'd sold out of lots of sizes, so I went early this year. Crawlers (closed foot) were good but now she's walking not so much.

1 and 3 year old. What do we doooo all day!?

@ahead Mine are 3 and 1 as well! July birthdays. For colder weather: waterproof overalls are amazing. Still get out and play, no wet bums. Twice a week or so (skin issues) I throw them in the shower with me - a few toys in the bottom and we get clean. Water drawing book- one each. Also...

FTM cloth diapering for little one due in 5 weeks, where to start?

@rdevotie Flats or prefolds are versatile - you can keep using them when baby is bigger (I still use flats on our two year old) (prefolds to stuff pockets). Yes, it's so worth it to cloth diaper a newborn. I'm currently cuddling a 4 week old and while we do have some disposables on hand, a...

    @cirrus999 This is the secret!

    What's your 1 nap schedule?

@robwebb Wake at 7, nap 12-2 (sometimes we are running late and it's 12:30), bed at 8

3 weeks of no diapers and STILL haven’t made it to the bathroom for poop

@drawingangel2 My daughter is nearly 4 and is scared of the splash, so she uses a potty chair for poops.

Sibling gender (biological sex at birth)?

@elam84 So looking at family trees, and looking at men because they are the ones that send X or Y, if you have all brothers you are more likely to have sons, if you have a sister you're more likely to have girl.
