@inheretic Exactly- maybe we need to edit the rule and make it no advocating for CIO before 4 months??
In fact maybe we need a definition of "sleep training" in our sidebar
@edwina958 Very different for us because we're in rural Australia with a handful of cases.
Basically we have a mindset of budgeting potential exposures- so we have to go to work, there are things we want to do for our mental health and child's development. We get our groceries through click...
@inheretic Yes I like this. If sleep training is about age appropriate encouragement of sleep, then cool. If sleep training means CIO then obviously that's a problem before 4 months.
I like the " pre training" category, as a related point.
@mazince514 The last feed may be too close to bed still. You can try rocking to extend time between feeds, as you're needing to reset his circadian rhythm which is preparing his body to eat at that time.
@stefanylove A night wake is still normal at this age, have you explored night weaning? Feed to sleep would look like waking 45min to an hour after bed.
@stefanylove Before you dropped a nap, what were your wake windows? You've only got 2+3+3.5 8.5 hours of awake, on 3/3/4 she'd have 10. If you had something like 2/2.5/2.5/3 (a maxed out 3 nap schedule) that's 10 hours of awake. I'd suggest doing 2.5/3/3.5 at a minimum - if she can't handle a...
@kathypdoe I found I had to cut down half minutes- one minute a week, but 30s at the start of the week and building to a minute, otherwise she'd wake up an hour or so later saying "excuse me I want a refund"
@meeble27 So once you've sleep trained (however method, there are different styles to suit different people) you can pause for 5-10 minutes to see if baby settles. Then try shushing, patting, rocking, and if all else fails, boob.
@meeble27 I'd suggest she might be getting ready to transition to two naps, I'd make that last window 3 for sure.
That last feed is half an hour clear of bed?
@meeble27 Some troubleshooting questions:
Is there something else happening like teeth? Pain relief can help.
Is schedule age appropriate? Being awake for two hours suggests perhaps not.
Is it truly an independent put down or are there any sneaky sleep associations? Gentle sleep training...
@charles1014 I have 2 under 3. Here are my aspirations
Read a book together every day.
Make it through the day without screen time!
Go outside everyday. Even better, a walk, even better, an outing to a playground etc.
Do art or cooking together.
Get one housework task done with...
@phideltbeers If they're really soft you can often plop them a lot easier once they're drier. But a little TP and a shove (drop TP in too) works and get the rest later.
