@mendicant nothing shameful about WIC whatsoever! we should be proud that WIC exists, it's a noble program

i hate when people say “i wish i have/had twins”

@diddle that's so rude they wouldn't let B back into see A without you fibbing! i would have fibbed too! our NICU had a "no siblings" rule but they make exceptions for multiples who got home faster, they even had a pack n play set up for A next to B's cot, i thought that was really sweet...

@deyahss41 every morning my hands and feet are so so stiff and sore! it's so annoying! i thought maybe i was sleeping on them weird because sometimes it's pins and needles but sometimes they're just really sore instead, they feel like i just came in from the snow into a hot room yknow? like...

Tell me your stories of your 28-30 weekers

@mikalister seconding "use this community as google" i eventually learned on my own that how i googled things now was reddit searching r/Nicuparents + whatever term. regular google is worse than useless for us. people out in non-NICU land have no idea what they're talking about and many of the...

How often/long are you at the hospital?

@ninkies once i stayed home for two days straight to soak in the hot tub and watch marvelous mrs maisel. do whatever feels right to you at the time, once you're done with that place you'll never have to think about it again and you won't remember how much you did or didn't visit

How do I set my wife up in a realistic way for our twins arrival in Jan…

@cinder7 as long as she's willing to be overruled by the doctor at the first sign of trouble i don't see the harm in her being optimistic. i told all my doctors i was going to make it to 37 weeks and boy was i ever wrong but they don't like, come in and taunt you about having been wrong, or anything

Tell me your stories of your 28-30 weekers

@kimhimmel my twins were born after a non-reassuring scan, one of them was having weird dips in his heart rate, which later turned out to be due to a true knot in his cord. i had been being monitored intensely anyway because of absent end diastolic flow on the other twin. i'd been given the...

    R.O.P. appointments

@gotz i hated those too. what a relief the day they cleared us. i tried to schedule them in the morning on the same day we had something else to do at the children's hospital so we could go to the eye doctor, eat in the lobby, have a stroller nap, go to the other appointment (PT or whatever)...

Ambient noise and other low movement videos around babies?

@jyohmesheh i don't have any study to back this up but my thinking has been that if it's something a baby could see out the window if our house happened to be located next to a wildlife safari or a historic railroad or whatever instead of where it is then it counts more as window time than...
