In desperate need of a break but husband won’t let my mom help me

@sam77 You’re getting downvoted because what you are describing is controlling behavior that suggests he’s trying to isolate you from your mom - abuse red flag - and you are cheerily not seeing it. But of course you’re not, because he’s gaslighting you about everything.

Almost lost it w my younger kid

@prexioc How long is her nap? The obvious answer is prevent her from being overtired, but that isn’t necessarily easy. I would start by having a conversation with her at a different point of the day to ask her if there’s anything that would help her go to bed easier. See what she says without...

Almost lost it w my younger kid

@babo2013 It sounds like he was at place emotionally where it was more of a meltdown than a tantrum. A 3 year old is still at an age where they need coregulation, and can’t fully self regulate. He tried to go for his needs (food now), and you wanted the logic approach (lunch in a bit). He...

In desperate need of a break but husband won’t let my mom help me

@sam77 He may not like you that much (also part of the abuse situation) - which may increase why he wants to control you. To get power over you and the situation. However - we don’t need to logic away abuse because “he wouldn’t like me enough to want to control me”. It’s not about his feelings...

Is it normal to wash a 0 to 1 year old’s clothes everyday?

@seastar If there’s a lot of spit up or poop on it, yeah. Sometimes if you let that sit, the stain gets pretty impossible to get out. I do laundry for for my three month old at least three or four times a week...and I’ve still lost a few things to stains that won’t come out.

Are obnoxious colourful plastic toys really that bad?

@listenordont We do mostly all wooden toys here for several reasons. Many electronic toys are linked to hearing damage. (Different places test the decibels they put out. Here’s one - https://audiologyisland.com/blog/18-toys-that-damage-kids-hearing/) I was concerned about chemicals -...

    Toys with staying power

@niknak91 We have some from Magblock and they are good too! A FB group I’m in says they’re stronger magnets than Magnatiles, which I think I agree with.

Are obnoxious colourful plastic toys really that bad?

@mikeysavedbygrace There is an organization in Oregon I think that tests kid’s toys to see what is really in them and at what levels. I found them years ago when I was researching whether to do plastic or not. Biased opinions, but they share the raw data for every toy they tested which was...
