Still not adjusted at daycare after over 3 months -- help!

@religiondoctor I agrée with others. For her LO, every day at daycare might feel like a “Monday”. I’d try 3 consecutive days. Are other kids in her class full time and is she missing out on other activities that they get to do? At that age, she likely wouldn’t pick up on that but just asking...

    New to the NICU

@jesusrocksjose777 There’s a book titled Preemie that has so much valuable information. Here’s my tips (first was 27weeker): -take one day at a time -talk with nurses and find a few in day and night shifts you like. Ask them to be your care team for consistency. -get to know the charge...

    Cake for 1st birthday?

@stay_tattd4_lyfe I did a sugar free banana based homemade cake with coconut whipped icing. It was soft and easy to eat, and my 27 weeker loved it.

How to remember the good times that happened in the NICU? (Long stay)

@alusuw Our NICU made milestone cards for us for growth, firsts, wins. If they don’t, make them for a box or scrapbook! Pick a stuffed animal (jelly cat or cuddle kind are great) and do weekly photos to show growth. Get your hands on the small first diaper and every size after to see the growth...

Tell me your stories of your 28-30 weekers

@kimhimmel Yeah, just a forewarning, they’ll generally play music and have all the nurses line up and celebrate as you walk out with your baby. It’s hard to miss. If I noticed them lining up, I’d go back to my baby’s room and put head phones in for about 10-15 min.

Mentally struggling not being able to hold my baby

@thelearner92 The walk to the NICU was how I built my stamina back up - if your NICU has recliners, spend some time kicked back there while you’re in the hospital. There were a few different parts of the NICU that were the hardest. The first 48 hours being one of those. I didn’t meet/see my...

Tell me your stories of your 28-30 weekers

@kimhimmel 27 weeker, 1.5 lb, uterin issue. Baby did 74 days in the NICU. Went through most of the typical progress steps with respiratory and feeding. Feeding is the most drawn out part because it’s usually the last for most babies. Only major issue we had was a minor infection for a couple of...
